About Organic Cotton
At Green Bean we are passionate about our organic cotton. It is so soft and perfect for babies delicate skin. Our organic cotton french terry is made of the finest quality ringspun cotton. Organic cotton is hard wearing because the fibres have not been exposed to the many chemicals that conventional cotton uses. It is reassuring to know that by choosing an organic green bean baby garment your baby will not be exposed to any harmful chemicals found in baby clothing.
Certified Organic Cotton
The organic cotton we use for our Green Bean organic baby clothing collection is certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) accredited third party certifying organisations, Control Union formerly known as Skal and IMO.
High quality Organic cotton
At Green Bean Kids we use the finest quality combed certified organic cotton in our baby clothing collections. This ensures an incredible softness and makes it hard wearing. We have added a touch of spandex for comfort to ensure that our garments will keep their shape wear after wear.
Production Network System
Our fabric supplier has been involved with organic cotton and sustainable fibres since 2003 and is a member of the Organic Exchange. You can be guaranteed that the organic baby wear you purchase from Green Bean Kids is certified. Our supplier is able to track the organic cotton process from field to ginning, to spinning to dyeing through a "Production Network Control System".
 Azo Free Dyes
To colour the fabric the dyehouse is credited with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) certification. The dyes used are azo free, eco-friendly low impact dyes certified by GOTS.
Environmental Policy
Our supplier is accredited with and meets the ISO 14001 environmental management, nominated as sustainable of the global environment. Our supplier has wastewater management systems where wastewater is centralised in a pool and treated with precipitation, oxidation filtration and other procedures until the quality of drained water reaches the standard set by the EPA.
Conventional cotton vs organic cotton
Unlike conventional cotton which is one of the most heavily sprayed crops in the world, organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides, chemicals and herbicides and the seeds used for planting are Genetically modified organism (GMO's) free. Organic cotton fields are naturally fertilised and pest consuming insects are used instead of chemical pesticides. Weeds are removed by hand or with tractors and hoes. Organic cotton is good for the environment and kind and gentle for your baby.
Did you know?
Conventional cotton uses 25% of the worlds insecticides and 10% of the worlds pesticides are used to cultivate conventional cotton. This puts a major strain on many of the worlds water resources as these chemicals leach into waterways. During the growing season, large amounts of chemicals are applied to conventional cotton crops to maximise yield.
By choosing organically grown cotton you can reap all the benefits of cottons beauty, comfort and strength while minimising harm to people and the planet.
Organic cotton - the perfect organic baby clothing choice for you and your baby.
